THE people of Kerang in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, have selected and turbaned Da Danjuma Wetle Guwal as the new Mishkaham Kum/ Mishkaham Yil to fill the vacant position created by the demise of Da Samuel Nkohon who died recently.
The selection and subsequent coronation took place at Kerang Ntulu, Tim, by the elders of Kerang under a free and peaceful atmosphere.
In a statement signed by the member of “Tohol di des” indicated that the historic event was witnessed by elders and other dignitaries from Kerang both at home and in Diaspora.
After the final selection and coronation of the Mishkaham, some elders of “Tohol di des” who spoke at the event, congratulated him for becoming victorious during and after the selection process and advised him to carry each and everyone along irrespective of tribe or family background, both within and outside.
Other elders who spoke too at the occasion showered accolades on the new chief describing him as the right man for the position at the right time. While urging him to shun rumour mongering and other vices that will retard the smooth running of this administration.
Responding, the new Mishkaham Kum/ Mishkaham Yil, Da Danjuma Wetle Guwal, dressed in a typical Mwahagvul traditional attires was full of gratitude to God, the entire people of Kerang for finding him worthy to serve in this capacity and promised to operate an open door policy whereby constructive criticisms will be welcomed.
The event climaxed with presentation of gifts to the new Mishkaham Kum. Yil and other cultural dances added colour to the event.
