The newly elected Executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ),Plateau State Council,have been sworn in with a charged on them to leave above board and carry all along irrespective of differences.

Taking their oath of offices before the Vice-President, North Central of NUJ,Chief Wilson Bako and Trustee of the same zone,Ladi Emmanuel at State Secretariat of the Union in Jos Saturday, the oath Commissioner, Barrister Izang Aware further charged them to be transparent in all their transactions and not take oath as play saying it’s between them and their maker.

Our correspondent reports that because of the giant strides the past executives brought to both the union,members in the state were over excited and  decided to return almost all unopposed except the position of the                                                             Financial Secretary where Ezekiel D. Izang of the State Information  Chapel and Danjuma Auta of Faith Chapel . The Nigeria Standard further reports that Izang polled 101 to defeat Auta who got 24 votes after which they  embraced themselves  to the admiration of all when the result was announced by the Vice President, Chief Wilson Bako.

Chief Wilson told the congregation that,NUJ,Plateau Council had always set the pace and congratulated the new EXCO for their victory.

He called on them to carry all members along adding that they should continue with the good work they have started.

He said the President of the Union was with them and would continue to support them in all ramifications as they supported him in the past.

Mallam Sa’ad Umar,the  Chairman,Bauchi State Council of the NUJ said he is always proud of his counterpart from Plateau for always exhibiting peaceful elections and urged them to continue in that direction.

Umar called on members to accord the new EXCO the necessary support they needed and to criticise constructively where it was necessary.

On his part, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)Plateau State, Mr Eugene Manji applauded NUJ for conducting a peaceful election and congratulated the new executive members for their emergence and urged them to carry all members along.

Mr Manji said they should continue from where the past EXCO stopped with their developmental strides so that the limit would be the sky for them adding the NLC would always support them.

The Director of  Press to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Dr Macham Simon Makut congratulated the new EXCO and promised to work with them for the betterment of all.

Represented by Mr Alanjong of the Directorate of Press,he said the Governor was with them in spirit and would continue to support them as he had always done.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman Mr. Paul Jatau who was returned unopposed  thanked all members for the confidence reposed in them and promised not to disappoint  them.

According to Jatau they would continue to operate in a transparency manner as they had always done and called for support from members.

He promised to continue from the developmental strides they had started and promised to carry all members along.
