Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly (PLHA), Rt. Hon. Abok Nuhu Ayuba, has commended the Plateau State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), for conducting a free, fair and peaceful elections.
This was contained in a press statement issued on behalf of the Speaker, by his Press Secretary, Bulus Atang and made available to the Nigeria Standard.
According to the statement, the Speaker while congratulating the new exco, led by Mr. Paul Jatau, appealed to it to ensure it embraces an all inclusive and equitable leadership that will carry all members of the union along.
While attributing his victory to the will of God and as a result of his outstanding leadership qualities, coupled with the successes recorded during his first tenure, he urged him to consider his re- election as a call for more service to the union and the state at large.
Ayuba who said he recognizes the role of the media as watch dog of the society, reiterated the need for more contributions in the country’s democratic process by continually informing and educating the citizens on government’s policies and programmes.
He assured the new NUJ state exco of the support and cooperation of the ninth Assembly and enjoined all members to join hands with the leadership in order to accomplish greater things that would move the union forward.
Ayuba also, called for the timely completion of the council secretariat as according to the statement, it will help Journalists in carrying out their duties effectively. He prayed for more wisdom and guidance for the new team to succeed.
